Hamas says talks to end the conflict are held up on two issues, their demand that Israel ends what it describes as provocations in Jerusalem, and Israel's demand that Hamas ends firing first. America's lead diplomat on the conflict, Hady Amr met Palestinian officials Monday. They don't live in Gaza and don't control Hamas, and want international pressure on Israel. INTERPRETER: We are following what is happening every second, and we call on the international community to intervene to stop the aggression. But Israel has so far not responded to anyone. NIC ROBERTSON: In Europe, also working diplomatic angles to end the conflict, Secretary of State Antony Blinken sounding uncertain a truce can be had right now. ANTONY BLINKEN: We are ready to lend support if the parties seek a cease-fire. We'll continue to conduct intensive diplomacy to bring this current cycle of violence to an end.
